International children’s day Adelaide
International children’s day was celebrated CFE Stonožka in style, when after a longer preparation the ensemble travelled to Adelaide to show off their wide repertoire of traditional folk as well as modern dances and songs to our countrymen in the Slovak Club and the Czech-Slovak Club.
During this 4-day trip (between 29.5 and 1.6. 2015) the children have also visited a small town Hahndorf, the Murray River, Mount Lofty Summit lookout, South Australian Museum, Haigh’s chocolate factory as well as various parks and playgrounds.
CFE Stonožka evoked many fond memories among our countrymen by performing their craft with great spirit and desire. This ensemble greatly benefits from a dedicated leadership and choreography by Ivanka Pašovičová, which transpired into a highly appreciative crowd of enchanted countrymen, old and young. Thanks to this opportunity the children from Stonožka have experienced exciting time with other Slovak children and their families. It has been a wonderful time to make new or strengthen existing friendships with our countrymen in South Australia.
We‘d like to thank Alžbetka Tichá of Adelaide for her assistance in organising this trip as well as to our own Community for its generous financial support towards this trip. We are truly proud of the fact that our language ‘slovenčina‘ is an incentive for such cooperation and friendships between adults and children alike throughout Australia, so far away from Slovakia.
