Slovak Day 2020
29.11.2020 a forty sixth instalment of our traditional annual Slovak Day was once again held at the Colo River.
Our preparations for this Slovak Day event have actually run smoothly this year, so we’ve prepared our traditional lunch delicacies with selfless contribution of many hands. Although the scorching heat (44oC) dissuaded some to attend, we’ve welcomed a really good attendance of our countrymen, who created a stimulating atmosphere among beautiful surroundings of the Polish camping site, Bielany.
After the field holy mass, celebrated by f. Henry Adler SVD, the Slovak Day festivities had begun with the feast of our traditional gourmet meals, closely followed by a Stonožka ensemble’s spired performance of traditional Slovak folklore dancing and singing in their original folk costumes. Afterwards, Jan Longauer, on behalf of the Community, had greeted all the gathered guests and then invited all countrymen to join him in singing of the Slovak anthem. Ensuing jovial festivities were kicked off by Vojto Kubizniak, with his heartfelt singing of our traditional folk songs. Free entertainment continued late into the afternoon, when many countrymen have also enjoyed a refreshing dip in the Colo River.
