{"id":1403,"date":"2013-05-11T09:51:36","date_gmt":"2013-05-10T23:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/slovakcommunitysydney.com\/?post_type=tribe_events&#038;p=1403"},"modified":"2013-05-11T09:51:36","modified_gmt":"2013-05-10T23:51:36","slug":"nanebovstupenie-pana","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/slovakcommunitysydney.com\/en\/nanebovstupenie-pana\/","title":{"rendered":"ASCENSION OF THE LORD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Readings<\/strong>: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usccb.org\/bible\/readings\/051213-ascension.cfm\" target=\"_blank\">Acts 1:1-11; Psalms 47:2-3, 6-7, 8-9; Ephesians 1:17-23; Luke 24:46-53;<\/a><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bearing witness to Christ<\/strong>, to his <strong>message<\/strong> and the <strong>power of his goodness<\/strong>: <strong>this<\/strong> is our primary mission on earth. Before he ascended, Jesus didn&#8217;t say, &#8220;Go have a good time; go \u2018find yourselves&#8217;.&#8221;\u00a0 No! He said, &#8220;Go be my <strong>witnesses<\/strong> to all the nations.&#8221; This is the <strong>mission<\/strong> we have been given. This is what we are supposed <strong>to do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Each one of us will do it in a different way.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>God calls some to witness as <strong>priests<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He calls some to <strong>consecrate<\/strong> their lives as <strong>full-time missionaries<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Others are called to be <strong>leaven in the dough of the world<\/strong>, transforming culture from within, either as humble workers or as great leaders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Each<\/strong> of us he calls to bear witness by the <strong>sincerity, faithfulness, and loving-kindness<\/strong> with which we live out our normal <strong>responsibilities and relationships<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Right before Jesus ascended, St Luke tells us, he &#8220;raised his hands, and <strong>blessed<\/strong> them.&#8221;\u00a0 Then he ascended and his disciples &#8220;returned to Jerusalem <strong>with great joy<\/strong>.&#8221; Why were they joyful at Christ&#8217;s <strong>departure<\/strong>? Because Christ had revealed to them the <strong>purpose of their lives<\/strong> &#8211; they had a <strong>mission<\/strong>; their life had <strong>meaning<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Today, at Holy Communion, let&#8217;s accept anew our life&#8217;s mission, so that at the end of this Mass, when I <em>[the priest]<\/em> raise my hands so that Christ can bless you through me, our <strong>restlessness<\/strong> will be taken up into <strong>joy<\/strong>.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Readings: Acts 1:1-11; Psalms 47:2-3, 6-7, 8-9; Ephesians 1:17-23; Luke 24:46-53; Bearing witness to Christ, to his message and the power of his goodness: this is our primary mission on earth.
