Our weekly Mass this 12th Sunday of ordinary time was offered in memory of Boris Gaspar on the 6th anniversary of his passing to eternal life.

We thanked God for the gift of Boris and his lifelong commitment to his family, the Church and the Slovak Community in Lidcombe. As we remember with gratitude those who left for us and the generations to come this precious gift, which is there to serve us a spiritual home rooted in our Slovak culture, we are reminded of our responsibility to safeguard, nurture and pass on to the next generation this rich cultural and spiritual heritage. It was therefore encouraging to see in our church this morning our young members of the community involved in the reading the bible, serving at the altar or just prayerfully participating in our liturgy.

After Mass we gathered in our community hall for a bowl of hot soup, a cup of coffee or a cold beverage for those who don’t worry about the cold weather.
