Slovak Community Sydney | A day at the Bankstown Multicultural Children’s Festival

On Saturday, the 13^th of September 2014 the annual Bankstown Children’s Festival was held at Paul Keating Park. The organizers prepared an interesting program for families, with or without, children. On stage there was dancing, singing, and recitals which started at 11am and continuing until 6pm. Amongst the performers were both Stonožka groups. Visitors were able to see diverse performances of many children’s groups, as well as many other interesting supporting activities. I can say that it was the children who gifted a beautiful day to each other. As the seeds of togetherness and tolerance grew in their hearts it is certain that Australian multi-cultural children bloomed little more.

Thanks to the Slovak Catholic Community of St. Cyril and Methodius as well as the Office for Slovaks Living Abroad for financial support of the children’s folklore ensemble Stonožka. Thanks also to our Australian-Slovak children for being part of such an event. By participating not only did they represent Slovakia, but their dancing and singing contributed to the beautiful ideal of togetherness and harmony in Australian life. We also thank the organizers of the festival for the opportunity to participate and wish them much success in future festivals.
