Slovak Day ‘17
On Sunday 26th of November 2017 a forty fourth instalment of our traditional annual Slovak Day was held at the Colo River.
Our preparations for this Slovak Day event have run smoothly with a gracious contribution of many hands in the process. A beautifully inviting pleasant weather has attracted a really good attendance, where we’ve welcomed four generations of our countrymen, which resulted in a stimulating atmosphere among beautiful surroundings of the Polish field camp, Bielany.
After the field holy mass, celebrated by f. Henry Adler SVD, the Slovak Day festivities have begun with two rounds of traditional folklore dancing and singing entertainment performed by our Stonožka ensemble in the original folk costumes. After the Slovak anthem, Ján Longauer on behalf of the Community, had greeted all the gathered guests and invited all countrymen to join him in the feast of our traditional gourmet meals and jovial festivities. These jovial festivities continued late into the afternoon where children in particular have enjoyed themselves by swinging above the water or swimming in the Colo River.
